GUACAMAYOS IN TAMBOPATA

The Tambopata area in southeastern Peru is an amazing place to see macaws and parrots in their natural habitat. Among other places to see them, here are the largest colpas in the Amazon, where hundreds of macaws, amazons and other parrots come to feed each day.

Itinerary

Day 1: Guests will be met at the airport and taken to the office, where you may be able to repack and leave anything you do not use in this part of the trip in the luggage storage. Then we continue to the port of the native community of Infierno, from where we will embark in an hour and a half by boat to Explorer's Inn Tambopata Ecolodge.
During this trip the guests will be welcomed with a small snack and from there a mandatory stop will be made in the control tower to register our entrance to the Tambopata nature reserve.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by the hostel manager, who will give you useful recommendations and information to have a very pleasant stay.
After a short break, our natural guide will give you an informative presentation about different species of alligators that can be observed in the Tambopata Natural Reserve, in order of arrival the guests will learn about endangered species.
Dinner
Again aboard our boat we will begin the nocturnal search for alligators in the Tambopata River. Our naturalist guide uses a flashlight in order to locate them in the banks of the river, to observe them from a respectable distance.
Day 2: We will get up very early to visit the parrot clay lick, which is 10 minutes by boat from the lodge. A clay lick is an exposed area of clay with high concentrations of salt and other important minerals, where different species of parrots converge to eat. In our case it is a small wall near the river, which allows us to observe several species of parrots and parrots. Which you can see eating the clay. We will return to the lodge walking along one of our paths, where if we are lucky, we may see other animals in their natural habitat.
Lunch.
We will visit our 42 meters of altitude in the tower as you enjoy the spectacular sunset views and surroundings. We will have alternative to see a great variety of fauna, including types of macaws, parrots, toucans and monkeys.
Dinner
Your natural guide will take you on a night walk to see the jungle from another perspective. It's time to see unique insects, amphibians, owls and maybe other species if you're lucky.
Day 3: We will have breakfast early and then we will be ready for our departure from the lodge.
The time of departure this program according to the time of the flight to finalize your expedition on the same day.
Guests will be picked up from the port to our office in Puerto Maldonado, and then taken to the airport.
