UBINES 5670M. ACTIVE VOLCANO, LAGUNA DE SALINAS - 02 DAYS - 01 NIGHTS

Itinerary

DAY 01:
Taking the road to the Picchu Picchu (old road to Puno) we will pass through the Spa of Jesus. Following the road, we will see the snowy Misti and Pichu Pichu, on the slopes of these mountains we will see a lot of terraces or pre-Inca terraces, some of these used today. We will arrive to Chiguata where we will visit his mestizo style church dating from the 18th century. Behind the Pichu Pichu, there is the Salinas lagoon (3800msnm), at the other end of the lagoon we will see the Ubinas volcano (5670m), we will pass through an area protected by the comuneros of the place, where they raise a large amount of camelids (alpacas and llamas), then we will leave our mobility and walk a little (25mn.) to see a small extinct volcano, with its crater full of cold water and about 30m. plus a totally natural well with turquoise hot water (possible bath). Refreshment, we will resume our trip to reach the volcano's slopes (5000m) to the base camp, dinner and overnight.

DAY 02:
Very early after a light breakfast (6:00 hrs.) we will start the ascent, depending on the physical condition and conditions of the passenger, we will be at the top in 3 or 4 hours, we will stay approx. 2 hours, we will enter the first crater, walk through an esplanade to reach the main crater and observe the fumaroles. The return to the base camp will be in the afternoon (about 2:30 pm) we will descend to the lagoon, refreshments and return to Arequipa.

  • Each passenger will basically carry: 2 liters of water, chocolates, sweets, tastes, light clothing, sleeping bag, gloves, hat, mountain shoes (boots), wet shoes, towel, swimwear, canteen of water, hat and sunglasses, canes, small flashlight and others that do not exceed in volume and weight.
