CEDROS ALPAMAYO - SANTA CRUZ

This trek leads to the foothills of the famous Alpamayo 5947m, considered the most beautiful snow-capped mountain in the world due to its almost perfect pyramid shape. We can see remains of pre-Inca agricultural terraces, the fortress of Yaino and lakes of varied colors and native flora and fauna. Among the snowy peaks that can be seen on the route are the summits of pucahirca 6046m, tulliraju 5830m, Artesonraju 6025m, quitaraju 6035m and sina cruz 6259m.

Itinerary

Day 01: Huaraz (3,052 m) / Hualcayan (3,140 m) / Huishcash (4,200 m)

Transfer in transport to the town of Hualcayan, from where we will start the hike ascending in a zigzag along a bridle path to the first campsite. Transportation time 5 hours. Walking time 5 - 6 hours approx. Camping Huishcash (4,200 m)

Day 02: Huishcash (4,200 m) / Osoruri

This day the Osoruri pass (4,860 m) awaits us, we will also have a beautiful view of the lagoons Azulcocha and Yanacocha and then pass by the edge of the Cullicocha lagoon (4,620 m). Walking time 5 to 6 hours approx. Camping Osoruri (4,550 m).

Day 03: Osoruri / Jancarurish (3,800 m)

This day we will ascend to the Vientunan pass (4,770 m), then the trek will be through the Cedros ravine and towards the Alpamayo ravine since we will have the most impressive view of the northwest face of Alpamayo (5,947 m). Walking time 4 to 5 hours approx. Camping Jancarurish (3,800 m).

Day 04: Jancarurish / Mirador Alpamayo (4,450 m) / Jancarurish

Day off
Optional: we can take a short walk to the "Mirado Alpamayo" to see the pyramidal figure of the Alpamayo mountain (5,947 m); from this place he took the famous photograph of Alpamayo "The Most Beautiful Mountain in the World". Walking time: 3 hours approx. Camping: Jancarurish (3,800 m).

Day 05: Jancarurish / Huillca (4,000 m)

We left in the direction of Huillca, crossing the Gara Gara pass (4,830 m), followed by the Mesapampa pass (4,500 m). Walking time 5 to 6 hours approx. Camping Huillca valley (4,300 m).

Day 06: Huillca / Jancapampa (3,600 m)

We left in the direction of Jancapampa through the Yana Queñua ravine this day we will cross the Yanacón pass (4,600 m). Walking time 5 to 6 hours approx. Camping Jancapampa (3,600 m).

Day 07: Jancapampa Valley / Huecrucocha

This day we will walk towards the town of Pishgopampa (3,600 m), then we will ascend through the Tingopampa ravine towards the Tupa Tupa pass (4,400 m). Walking time: 4 - 5 hours approx. Camping: Huecrucocha (4,000 m).

Day 08: Huecrucocha - Tuctu (4,200 masl)

We head towards the Pucaraju pass (4,650 m) from this point we can see the highest mountains of the Cordillera Blanca such as: Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju and Taulliraju (5,830 masl). Walking time 5 to 6 hours approx. Camping: Tuctu (4,200 m).

Day 09: Tuctu - Taullipampa (4,250 m)

This day we will cross the Punta Unión pass (4,750 m) from where we will have a wide view of the Santa Cruz creek and the Taullicocha and Jatuncocha lagoons. Walking time: 5 - 6 hours approx. Camping: Taullipampa (4,250 m)

Day 10: Taullipampa - Llamacorral (3,800 masl)

We will take a detour to the viewpoint of the south-west side of the Alpamayo mountain, later continuing the route we pass through the lagoons of Jatuncocha (turquoise) and Ichiccocha. Walking time: 5 - 6 hours approx. Camping Llamacorral (3,800 m).

Day 11: Llamacorral - Cashapampa (2,900 m)

This last day the walk will be through the Santa Cruz creek following a river of crystal clear waters and surrounded by lush vegetation and impressive mountains until we reach the town of Cashapampa where we are waiting for transportation to move to Huaraz. Walking time: 3 - 4 hours approx. Transportation time: 3 hours from Huaraz and hotel. Then the date and time of your return trips to Lima transferred from the hotel to the bus terminal.
